Methodology

FOIA.gov agency component statistics are refreshed every 2 hours. These are published reporting-period figures, not live queue lengths. Each component’s report year is shown; unavailable values are left blank. The average uses only components reporting a complex median.

MuckRock request records are refreshed when upstream access is available. This panel covers the loaded request sample, not all government releases. Missing document counts remain unavailable.

The Transparency Score (0-100) is an experimental Beholder calculation, available only when both processing and request/document data are present. It is not an official government rating. A single snapshot cannot establish a trend.

Score Calculation

Base 100, minus up to 50 points for slow processing (avg complex median / 5), plus up to 30 for completed requests, plus up to 15 for documents released, minus up to 15 for rejections.

FOIACON 1 (TRANSPARENT, 80-100) through FOIACON 5 (BLACK HOLE, 0-19) maps the experimental score to a display category. Sample coverage and reporting periods limit comparability.

This dashboard tracks publicly available FOIA processing data. It is not legal advice and should not be used as such.
